Cicamed Scar
Cicamed Scar
Cicamed scar is an effective, discrete and convenient treatment to effectively reduce scarring. Formulated with silicones, vitamin E and silica to soften, flatten and reduce prominent scars caused by surgery, injuries, burns and red acne scars. Silicon is quick drying and forms a transparent, protecting film. Cicamed scar is easily applied to most areas of the body, including the face and joints. Doctors have successfully used silicone in scar treatment since early 1980s. Made in Sweden.

Key components and efficacy data
The silicones form a protective, occlusive layer that creates a good environment for scar healing.
Vitamin E and silicones have a synergistic effect when combined in scar treatment.
Silica is gently exfoliating.
Best results are achieved on active scars, i.e. scars that still are in the healing process. Active scars are red and raised, while healed scars are white or purple/brown. The scar is most active during the first two months. Time for healing differs between scars and individuals. The healing process can take months or years. Cicamed Scar softens, flattens and reduces prominent scars. A small improvement can be noticed after a few weeks, but normally it takes two months of treatment before you can see the visible results. Silicone can prevent hypertrophic scars and keloids.
After two months treatment with Cicamed Scar the scar will be less visible and gets improved elasticity. Figure 1, 2, 3 and 4 illustrate different scars before and after two months treatment with Cicamed Scar
